Infant/Toddler First Aid and CPR Course
Our infant/toddler First Aid and CPR session is a child-specific and hands-on session for all parents, grandparents, babysitters or friends caring for babies and young children up to the age of 3 years. Our session is led by a former ambulance paramedic and emergency care instructor who is also a mother of 2 young children.
All course participants receive handouts that complement the course content.
Participants are welcome to ask questions and discuss concerns during the course.
This course is very child-specific and hands-on. It covers:
CPR (practice with manikins)
Choke-rescue techniques (practice with manikins)
Child-specific illnesses (croup, febrile convulsions, meningitis, etc – how to recognise them and what to do about them)
Dealing with other emergency situations such as burns, allergic reactions, poisonings, bangs on the head, broken bones, etc
Common childhood illnesses (fevers, coughs, colds, tummy bugs, etc)
How to recognise when you need to take your baby or toddler to the doctor
Safety around the home
Child car restraints.
